A species from the Philippines. This is not a beginner plant, but also not incredibly hard to grow. They do like moisture, so be sure to not let this one get dry for long periods of time.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eTolumnia variegata\u003c\/b\u003e - A lovely miniature from the Caribbean that blooms in the early spring. This makes for an excellent slab plant and they multiply in great numbers over years of growing.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eCattleyopsis ortgiesiana\u003c\/b\u003e - A miniature Jamaican species that is a great slab mount grower!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eSarcochilus Lois\u003c\/b\u003e - A miniature Australian hybrid that is a great beginner slab plant!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eBulbophyllum collettii\u003c\/b\u003e - A species from Thailand and Myanmar. Thick, tough foliage with flowers that smell like bean sprouts! This is a Souteast Asian lowland orchid, so it likes heat and humidity. You can get by without high humidity because we will be adding moss, but make sure you have temperatures in the 70's to 90's if you want to do great with this one !\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eAngraecum elephantitum\u003c\/b\u003e - Another beautiful compact orchid from Madagascar. Don't let their compact size fool you, they produce very large flowers in proportion to the plant! Overall, they grow in conditions similar to the Phalaenopsis (but are also cool tolerant) , making them a great beginner plant! Just amazing!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eBrassocattleya Yellow Bird\u003c\/b\u003e - Grows really easily just like Little Stars, but produces yellow flowers. To give you an idea of the rarity, for us, these bloom once every 3 to 4 years. The flower is viewable for about 2 days total (the day it opens, and the following day while it closes), with the actual peak only lasting 4 hours. Be warned, it stinks! There is a quick outdoor access door if you need a breath of fresh air, but it is tolerable :). The flowering peak is typically in the evening.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOur tours will offer a personal experience of small groups of 12 people per time slot, with Jason Fischer (manager and co-owner) going over the details of this magnificent flower.
