angraecum-elephantinum
Angraecum elephantinum
Commonly known as the 'Gigantic Angraecum’, based on how large its flower is relative to the size of the orchid.

This epiphytic species is native to Madagascar, where it blooms in the fall to winter season with nocturnally fragrant flowers. Grows well in bark and charcoal mixes, or sphagnum moss in unglazed clay pots. This also makes for a fantastic slab plant.

These orchids like being thoroughly watered & fertilized during the growing period, with time left to dry between waterings. In late winter to early spring, these hardy epiphytes require a reduction in watering frequency; however, if leaves begin to show signs of shriveling, adjust watering frequency incrementally to remedy the issue. The balance is easy to find, and the reward is a giant and fragrant flower! We have found they grow best for us in pure sponge rock (large perlite).

All plants are blooming size, and typically flower between January and March.
