This species can be found in the wild growing as either a terrestrial or as an epiphyte if the conditions are humid enough. We grow them in pro-mix and plastic pots. Unlike Bromeliads, these plants do not have any serrated leaf edges and are soft to the touch. They develop an umbel of flowers with a sweet fragrance.
